The Asian Infrastructure
Investment Bank (AIIB) is an emerging
international finance institution in
the Asia Pacific region. Established
in 2016 by the government of China,
it is now considered the second
largest development bank in terms of
membership. With its wide coverage,
the AIIB has mobilized significant
amounts of development finance in
the region, posing as an alternative to
financial institutions originating from
the global North.
